Bret Hart Signs With WWE!

Posted by Grey Saturday, December 19, 2009

And yes, I'm so thrilled that I don't mind doing an advert for Wrestling-Radio.com!

You thought you seen how internet wrestling forum are capable of, shifting into hyperdrive upon the release of major news in the industry the likes of the talks of Monday Night War II. Now you know you ain't seen nothing yet. Bret Hart is back and the news is burning all over the world wide web. And no, this is no longer a speculation.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (and later released via Wrestling-Radio.com), "The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be", Bret "The Hitman" Hart, multiple-times World Champion and WWE Hall of Famer, has signed a talent contract with WWE from January 1st through April 10th, 2010, approximately two weeks after WrestleMania 26, enabling him to guest host RAW on January 4th (as rumored earlier) and subsequently appearing at WrestleMania.

Monday Night W...What?

While everything has not been set in stone as WWE had remained silent on all the speculation since last Monday night's RAW where guest host Dennis Miller said the two magic word, this deal seemed legitimate enough to get excited about. Remember the online rumour last year where Bret reportedly indicated his interest in "doing some kind of work with WWE again"? This news served as a direct result of that and in my opinion, it is likely that Vince, being the sly businessman he is, got Dennis Miller to drop the hint to buzz up fan's hype as an effective marketing strategy before rumours of it getting out via the various online forum anyway. It matters not if Bret actually signs his contract before or after that anymore.

Hart had gone on the record in the interview with Meltzer that he wasn't going to lie about anything and therefore wasn't going to comment on this story. That's telling, by Hart's standards, despite reports that Hart wanted the signing to be kept quiet and his return to be a surprise. Well, that's WWE for you, and yes, the deal comes with a DVD release clause too.

From the looks of things, Bret will indeed fire WWE's first shot into Monday Night War II by hosting on January 4th to kickstart the buildup to WrestleMania. As for the talk of Hart returning to the ring for one match, it is still under speculation at this point.

Despite the luring potential of round two of Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels in the forthcoming WrestleMania, we fans of Montreal Screwjob (yes, there's a wiki for this), of course will like to see how Hart unscrew this "little" greatest outrage of wrestling ever on the now fan-favourites, DX (yes, HHH was the brains behind the screwjob), and maybe elevate the underused Hart Dynasty (David Hart Smith, Natalya and Tyson Kidd, respectively Hart's nephew, niece and student) to fulfill their collectively largely untapped potential.

More reports on this as we roll.

December 20th - An update on this, with the announcement that the unified tag team championship will be on the line as The Hart Dynasty faces DX on the Christmas edition of Smackdown. To top it all, WWE.com held a poll, asking fans to opine if DX will lose their newly gained titles to the low-to-mid carders. Well, here's what the fans thinks, as of now.

Calls for some storyline for the Canadians in hope of some Christmas gift.
