WWE VS. Zombies Of The Week

Posted by Grey Friday, December 11, 2009

While Undertaker, with his moniker of being the "Deadman", seemed to fit in just nice, trading blows with Zombies, John Cena and Triple H, amongst many other WWE superstars, will be facing off with the undead, in printed form, that is.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has announced a partnership with Titan on the launch of WWE Comics. With the first issue of the flagship title, WWE Heroes, debuting on March 23, 2010, nineteen issues will be subsequently produced and distributed to comic retailers and specialty stores in the U.S. and Canada.

Written by Keith Champagne and illustrated by Andy Smith, the series will feature Superstars Triple H, Undertaker, Randy Orton, Batista, Shawn Michaels, Big Show, John Cena, CM Punk, Kane, Edge, Chris Jericho, Matt Hardy, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Carlito, Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and Kelly Kelly, in a brand new fictional universe.

WWE and Titan signed a 20-issue agreement to produce and distribute comic books in the U.S. and Canada. The "flagship title" will be called WWE Heroes.

The press release as below:

Issue No.1 reveals an eternal rivalry set against the backdrop of the history of WWE. Why is the ruthless Shadow King so obsessed with WWE? What is the reason for his eternal and supernatural war with the Firstborn? And could his ancient opponent really be a member of the WWE roster?

For those under the impression that this could be the start of something really awesome, it would be advisable for you to curb that enthusiasm of yours. Remember the Ultimate Warrior comic series back in 1996 written by Mr. Ultimate Warrior himself (yes that is his real name) that introduced us to new words like, "destrucity" and "foked" and the now classic, ultra-fucking-rare, Ultimate Warrior Christmas Special where the Warrior did the unspeakable to good ol' Santa?

To commemorate the release of the first issue, WWE launched http://wwecomics.com/, where you can find wallpaper downloads and preview of the first issue.

A specially-commissioned alternate cover to the first issue, illustrated by Liam Sharp.
