Survivor Series Dead

Posted by Grey Thursday, February 11, 2010

In a relatively startling development, Survivor Series, the second longest running pay-per-view event in WWE history right behind behind WrestleMania, will not be making its 24th return this year.

Traditionally one of the four top shows of the year (the other four show being SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, and of course, the "Showcase of the Immortal", Wrestlemania), Survivor Series has been announced to be scrapped in 2010. To quote Vince McMahon, in a WWE quarterly conference call with investors on today:

"We think Survivor Series is obsolete. It worked many, many years ago. It was one of the original four, but it's outlasted its usage."

Without a doubt considering the fact that its 2009 iteration actually fell 26.3 percent as compared to the 2008 installment. With WWE's revitalized commitment to create more gimmick PPV, something gotta give.
