Predators Preview

In the very same vein that Alien has its Aliens, will Predator's Predators be providing the franchise-saving mojo too?

And that is in fact, Writer-Producer Robert Rodriguez's intention as well when he named the sequel to the comparatively lackluster alien film franchise. Featuring an ensemble cast with Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo and Adrien Brody, who will be playing the action hero main protagonist role, a controversial topic already hot on the Predator fan forum.

Designed to be a direct sequel to the 1987 action-packed alien shoot-em-up classic, Predator (meaning: forget everything you saw, from the borefest we called Predator 2 in 1990, to the two crossover films with the Alien franchise: 2004's Alien vs. Predator and 2007's Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. Yes, especially those two.), Predators have a rather intriguing premise (thanks Wikipedia).

The film follows a mercenary named Royce who is abducted by alien creatures known as the Predators. He is released onto an alien planet—which acts as a game reserve—along with seven other humans, who with the exception of a disgraced physician, are all cold-blooded killers consisting of mercenaries and convicts. Royce reluctantly leads the group of elite warriors as they come to realize they have been brought together to this planet as prey for a new breed of Predator. While battling to survive against these creatures, they come across an American soldier known as Noland who was brought to the planet years ago as game, but has managed to survive by hiding from the Predators in a cave. Noland reveals that the Predators have been hunting humans by dropping them on this planet for many years.

So Brody will be Royce, Fishburne will be Noland, Grace will be the disgraced physician (with a secret) while the rest will be joining the body count.

Seems like an interesting remorseless B'action flick that serves one purpose: Entertainment. And I meant that in a good way. While we await July 9th for the film's release, check out the poster and trailer that had just been released.
