First look at Chris Hemsworth's Thor, along with a "spy set picture" of "The Destroyer" from LatinoReview.

Had it not for the live-action full feature film on Marvel's resident god of thunder, Thor, Chris Hemsworth might just be forever remembered as the older brother of Miley Cyrus's main squeeze. Fortunately for him and for us, that is not the case.

Probably in response to LatinoReview's reveal of "The Destroyer" (we'll get back on this one), Marvel have released the first official image from the "Thor" film with Chris Hemsworth in the eponymous role. And it looks... just fine, when compared to the god of thunder's latest look.

With the conspicuous absence of Thor's signature "dual wing" helmet, the rest of the god of thunder's usual appearance can be seen here: Red cape, armored top, light beard, scale armored sleeves, etc. Anyway, I have always had this suspicion back then when Thor had this new outfit in the comics. It seems to transit very well into the film.

The image was unveiled on both the Yahoo Movies site and the official Marvel site.

Meanwhile, LatinoReview have revealed a "spy set picture" of "The Destroyer". According to them, "THE DESTROYER is sent to earth by Loki to destroy Thor. It stands at about 9 feet tall." Pretty much just like what it does in the comics. And looks exactly as its comic counterpart, if this image is to be trusted.

For the uninformed, The Destroyer is in fact an enchanted suit of armor that was forged and originally wore by Odin, and had been created as a weapon to face unnamed threats. Loki, Thor's arch-nemesis and half-brother, had on numerous occasions used The Destroyer against Thor to varying successes.

Set for release next summer on May 6th, 2011, Thor stars Chris Hemsworth as the eponymous god of thunder of Norse mythology. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the star-studded cast also includes Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Ray Stevenson as Volstagg, Tadanobu Asano as Hogun, Joshua Dallas as Fandral, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Rene Russo as Frigga and Stellan Skarsgard in an unspecified role. Samuel L. Jackson has confirmed that he will not be reprising his role as Nick Fury in the film, though Marvel Executive Kevin Feige has confirmed that both Fury and the Howling Commandos will be appearing in Captain America: The First Avenger, scheduled to release on July 22th, 2011.
