Forget Project Natal. Prepare yourself for the coming of Kinect.

Described as a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform, Kinect for Xbox 360, or just simply Kinect, the gaming experience previously known by the code name Project Natal, was finally unveiled at the recent E3. A portmanteau of the words "kinetic" and "connect", the device enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images.

Along with the official launch, several launch titles were also announced with full compatibility to the device. Among these titles, let's take a brief sneak peek at a couple of those that really captured the participant's attentions.

"Your Shape: Fitness Evolved", developed and published by Ubisoft, seemed to be Microsoft's answer to the ever popular Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort. The trailer do look kind of neat though.

Dance Central, developed by the makers of the Rock Band series, Harmonix Music Systems, is probably the direct result of a decadent generation worth of "Dance Dance Revolution". And that's meant to be a compliment, mind you.

These titles will be launched together with Kinect itself on November 4th, 2010. So mark your calendar accordingly. Anyway, to commemorate the launch of Kinect, Microsoft announced at E3 2010 that it was introducing a redesigned Xbox 360, complete with a Kinect-ready connector port. In addition, a new US$199 model is planned for release in the fall, and the redesigned Xbox 360 console is also to be available in a Kinect bundle.
