Spare me the gospel, more godly butts to kick will do.

As mentioned in our earlier feature on the "Top 13 Trailers From E3 2010", "El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron" is not that annoying Amy Grant spiritual pop song. Thank God (pun intended). Nevertheless, the normal church-going folks might just have a better chance of knowing just what the hell "El Shaddai" is, as opposed to the general extremely knowledgeable game-playing folks like us. While those god-fearing folks might be feeling happy for having an edge over us now, well, screw you. There's still the ever-dependable wikipedia. Here goes: El Shaddai (Hebrew: אל שדי‎) is one of the Judaic names of God. El Shaddai is translated as God Almighty. So before you even begin to ponder on the prospect of praising God non-stop as a gameplay element, hell no. That's not what you will be doing with this one.

A loose interpretation of the Book of Enoch, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron follows the adventures of Enoch, a priest looking for seven fallen angels to prevent the very ineffable God from tampering with the reset button of the universe by bringing forth a great flood from destroying mankind. What a jerk. Well, Enoch will be having some heavy weight assistance, in Lucifel, a guardian angel in charge of the protection of the world who exists outside of the flow of time, and by four Archangels: Raphael, Uriel, Gabriel), and Michael.Thankfully, the mission is in good hands. Designed as a stylish action title the likes of Devil May Cry, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is developed and published by Ignition Entertainment for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles. Leading the development team are Director and Character Designer Takeyasu Sawaki, the artist of in Devil May Cry and Okami, and Producer Masato Kimura, whom have had his fair share of experience working with Sawaki on the aforementioned titles closely earlier.

With the creative talents behind stylish titles like the popular Devil May Cry series working on this one, it is quite the fair guess that this is gonna be one hell of a looker, especially after checking out the trailer. All crazy shit biblical nonsense aside, the trailer poignantly displayed the wildly gorgeous action-packed game with some cool platforming element. Check it out right below.

Our impressions on this one? Despite its heavy biblical plot, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron has the potential to be one impressive title. In the meantime, check out the gorgeous characters design and some of the screenshots released thus far.

Enoch and Lucifer.Enoch.
