A classic fighter finally get a sequel after more than a decade. Prepare for Tekken Tag Tournament 2!

One of the most esteemed fighter of its time, Tekken Tag Tournament has been a timeless evidence of Namco's dominating brilliance in the realm of fighting games. First released in 1999, the standalone title was re-released in 2008 as part of Namco Classic Fighter Collection along with Tekken 4 and Soul Calibur II, the singular "tag" gameplay has been a long-standing fan favorite element till today. Despite numerous tease from Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada on a sequel, fighting aficionado has waited in vain for more than a decade,

Until now.

Fans who attended the Tougeki fighting game tournament during Tokyo Game Show knew they were in for a special announcement but most only expect more breaking news or screens of Tekken X Street Fighter. And hell were they in for a treat. Katsuhiro Harada and Namco Bandai officially unveiled Tekken Tag Tournament 2, the sequel to 1999's arcade original, complete with an all-new updated roster along with current-gen graphics engine.

Slated first for arcades next Summer, the game will be made available for consoles after that, although no specific release were given. Featuring signature characters Jin Kazama, and his feuding father, Kazuya Mishima, along with new fighters Asuka and Leo ((debuted in Tekken 5 and 6 respectively), the debut trailer were a terrific display of a further elaboration over the unique "tag" gameplay.
