"Yojimbo meets Big Night and Babette’s Feast, an ultra-violent slaughter-fest over culinary arcana"?

Sold.

Well, at least that was what described by creator Anthony Bourdain. The name sounds familiar?

Yeah, that Anthony Bourdain. Famed author and chef well known for his culinary and cultural adventure program Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations at Travel Channel (not that I know anything about such stuffs, just information picked up from his Wikipedia entry.

The long-rumored Vertigo project by Chef Bourdain was announced during the "Vertigo: On the Edge" panel held by DC at the New York Comic-Con. Described as a futuristic action thriller set in a world where exquisite foods and the secrets of its preparation are the source of all power, the story follows a mysterious sushi chef, Jiro, who unwittingly got involved in the ultimate (and seemingly ultra-violent) fight for the secret recipes. Packaged an original graphic novel, the plot does sounds unconventional and quirky enough for an amusing read.

Written by Bourdain and novelist Joel Rose (writer of he Blackest Bird, Kill the Poor, and Kill Kill Faster Faster), and illustrated by artist Langdon Foss, Get Jiro! is is expected to be released sometime in 2011.
