Bruce Lee Vs. Robin

Posted by Grey Tuesday, October 5, 2010

"What do we have here? A Mexican Standoff? dead heat? A photo finish?"

A fucking one-sided match that could certainly be Robin knocking at Death's door, you stupid narrator.

The immortal Bruce Lee, in the Kato Outfit that was recently revisited by Jay Chou and Donnie Yen respectively (Chou in the Green Hornet remake, and Yen, creatively used in his Bruce Lee sequel, Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen), would of course have had the collective teeth of Batman, Robin, and even the pathetic Green Hornet kicked in if he just wished it.

And an extended version.

However, it's the campy times of sixties TV. Green Hornet and Kato, though seen here in some campy dialogue, are infinitely more serious and gritty than the bumbling buffoon version of the Dark Knight (can we even call him by that namesake here) and his "Holy Fucking Kung-Fu Kick" sidekick, the Boy Wonder Robin.

How the passage of time has passed for both franchise with Christopher Nolan's essential examination of the Batman mythology catapulted the already iconic character to yet another cinematic cult status, while we await Director Michel Gondry's version of Green Hornet with Seth Rogen and the aforementioned Jay Chou as Britt Reid/The Green Hornet and Kato respectively.
