Concept art reportedly from the much-anticipated Marvel superhero magnum opus, Avengers, has surfaced on the world wide web. Let's take a look at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.

Marvel Zombies are familiar with the regular sight of the gigantic Hellicarrier flying over the skyline of the Marvel Universe. And if this rumor does turn out to be genuine, fans can relive the moment on the screens.

According to Spidermedia.Ru, the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier was supposed to appear in "Iron Man 2" before a change of plans caused the idea to be shelved. Reportedly, the design was done by Indian artist George Hull, who have also worked on the Matrix sequels.

While the rumor remains to be completely unconfirmed, the designs are actually pretty cool. Check them out after the jump.

Meanwhile, on the topic of the Marvel movies, Paramount Pictures, the owner of the distribution rights to the Marvel Studio films, has relinquished distribution control of these films to Disney, after a reported sum of at least $115 million dollars were paid to them. The arrangement will kick off with May 4, 2012's "The Avengers" and continuing to "Iron Man 3", which had at the same time announced with a May 3, 2013 release date. That would be almost a year after "Avengers" hits theaters in 2012. God bless Robert Downey. Jr.
