Yes, fans did specifically asked for a break from the mega events from Marvel. After almost an entire year devoid of these big game-changing arcs, Marvel has unveiled its next major crossover event, "Fear Itself".

After a week of teaser images depicting the greatest fears of Spider-Man, the Hulk, Captain America, Cyclops, Thor, and Iron Man, Marvel has unveiled its next mega event, "Fear Itself", at New York's Midtown Comics.

Displaying two teaser videos during the event, Joe Quesada, Tom Brevoort, and Axel Alonso announced that writer Matt Fraction and artist Stuart Immonen will be the official creative team on the on the core seven-issue miniseries that will kick off in April, while Ed Brubaker and Scot Eaton will be working on the prologue issue involving Captain America and Namor.

While Matt Fraction has indicated that the Marvel heroes would be taking on the God of Fear (could that be Phobos, the son of Ares?), Quesada and Brevoort remained cryptic about the project, only commenting that the scale of the event would be on the same level as "Civil War".
