Thor Trailer Rundown

Posted by Grey Sunday, December 12, 2010

Still bewildered in astonishment over the godly visuals of the first trailer of Thor that just went online less than 24 hours ago? Here's a little something to alleviate the experience.

Much like what we posted earlier for the Green Lantern trailer (analysis on the clip by the ever-diligent iO9), we will be doing a rundown on the trailer for Thor, with many thanks to Cinema Blend, whom have painstakingly collated a stellar 100 hi-res screen capture of the trailer.

The trailer begins in a dark room with S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson (a role from the Iron Man films, reprised by Clark Gregg) conducting an interrogation with a mysterious blonde, whom have just awaken from an intensive care ward... with a bang.

The flash-back sequence begins, taking audience to a wonderfully crafted Asgard.

Famed Japanese actor, Tadanobu Asano (浅野 忠信) as Hogun, one of the Warriors Three, and...

... Jaimie Alexander (Kyle XY) as Sif, the female warrior of Asgard.

Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the evil antagonist ironically notable for being the one who helped the forming of the Avengers.

Anthony Hopkins as Odin, the ruler of Asgard, father of Thor, and adoptive father of Loki.

Chris Hemsworth as Thor, clearly agitated here.

Quite likely, the Frost Giants of Jotunheim...

.. getting their collective asses handed to them by the God of Thunder.

Rene Russo as Frigga, the wife of Odin, queen of Asgard and the step mother of Thor and adoptive mother of Loki, seen here with Sif.

The famed warhammer of Thor, Mjolnir, confiscated by Odin...

..while Thor gets banished down an interesting sequence giving audience a glimpse of the famous Rainbow Bridge.

Idris Elba as Heimdall, the all-seeing, all-hearing Asgardian sentry of the bifröst bridge.

Gratuitous shot of a topless Thor.

Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, the resident damsel-in-distress. Still kinda puzzled why Portman took on the role.

The Destroyer, an enchanted suit of armor forged by Odin, and almost always serves an antagonist role in the comics, due to the intervention of Loki or other villains. Guessed it's gonna be the same routine for good'ol Destroyer here.

Cool shot of perhaps the triumphant return of Thor.

It's hammering time...

The Destroyer in full destruction mode.

The obligatory kissing scene.

An extremely pissed-off shot of Thor. This picture actually threw away any doubts that I have had for the casting choice of Chris Hemsworth as Thor earlier.

A ticked-off Heimdall.

The final battle?

The title screen, followed by...

... some earth-shattering action-packed moment of Thor, wielding Mjolnir and summoning some thunder.

The parting shots, with two brilliant image of Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

Do check out Cinema Blend for the entire set of 100 cool images from the trailer.
