Fancy recreating a classic Star Wars moment while reveling in your usual Halloween tradition?
Yes, now you can. Thanks to the fun-loving folks from Fantasy Pumpkins, ecreating the classic scene in Star Wars where the Death Star got obliterated can now be simultaneously accomplished with smashing up pumpkins. When they are one but the same.
Tying to our horror-themed celebration of the All Hallow's Eve spirit, we look back at a turbulent time in comic history that proved to be an essential inspiration moment for many great creative minds.
With an awesome title as such, I would not be surprised if this nifty little collection published by the folks at Abrams ComicArts managed to enter the collection of more pulp horror aficionados than one might inclined to predict. And it wouldn't hurt at all that the subject matter is a perfectly delicate and intriguing topic at hand. A collection of pre-Comics Code comics ranging from horror, horror, and horror to crime, crime, and crime. And that's more diverse than you might thought. The official synopsis:
Own a piece of pop and pulp culture at thirty bucks.
Behold, the most painstakingly assembled Halloween role-playing ever.
The winner of the Weekend of Horrors Costume Contest at the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors, this costume from the Dutch horror film, The Human Centipede (First Sequence), is indeed a sight to behold. And a sure-fire way to grab attention, one way or the other.
One hell of a tongue-in-cheek Halloween costume. Tongue in butt cheek too. Can't wait to see the Full Sequence too.
Kudos to Jim, from Sweet Juniper, who not only made this incredibly awesome costume for his son for this Halloween, but also took the little Robo-Kiddo out to patrol the decadent streets of Detroit.
A few more cops came out to talk with us, joking that they were going to have to call their union because it looked like they were being replaced. "Don't worry," I said. "He's just a prototype."
Now that's one hell of a good reason for contributing to the increase of human population.
Here's the complete, non-sneakily taken trailer for the upcoming mind-boggling crossover game between Professor Layton and Ace Attorney.
We have earlier covered on the biggest announcement at the at Level-5 Vision event, the unbelievable crossover between two of the quirkiest characters in gaming history, Professor Layton and Ace Attorney. However, we have only managed to put up a trailer of the game of a less-than-satisfactory resolution. Check out the complete, high resolution version of the trailer right here.
As if to dissuade the would-be Captain Americas during this Halloween, we get a first glimpse at Chris Evans as the First Avenger himself, Captain America!
Still skeptical over the choice of Chris Evans as the square-jawed, ultimate Aryan, Steve Rogers? Then this very cover itself might just change your mind.
Inside the issue, there are some pretty awesome pictures featuring Hayley Atwell as Major Peggy Carter, Stanley Tucci as Dr. Abraham Erskine, Hugo Weaving as a pre-Red Skull Hydra uniformed-clad Johann Schmidt, and last but certainly not least, Chris Evans in uniform... and not.
As mentioned earlier, there is no doubt who is the brightest (or more appropriately in this case, darkest) star zombie of the week. We take one last look at the much-anticipated AMC TV adaptation of Robert Kirkman's landmark zombie comic book series, "The Walking Dead" before its premiere tomorrow night.
Our interest with Director Frank Darabont (Director of The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile)'s TV adaptation of Robert Kirkman's consistently exhilarating comic series, The Walking Dead, has been well-documented (here, here, here, and here).
With the series pilot set to premiere tomorrow, let's cast a last preview eyes at some of the making-of, interview and footage snippets.
Forget the Dark Avengers. Embrace the Dark Ages Avengers.
Francesco Francavilla, currently providing the art on the new Black Panther, has come up with this cool rendition of Avengers, seemingly set during the Dark Ages. Earth's First Heroes comprised of "Captain Amerigo", plain old Thor, an iron-clad gladiator, and a Celtic Hulk.
What is really strange in that title? The fact that Jesus is being depicted as a Zombie, or Rob Liefield (famed/infamous creator of Marvel's Cable, Deadpool, and X-Force, as well as Image's Youngblood) is actually working on something?
Just in time for All Hallow's Eve, Rob Liefield picked up his pencil and delivered to us his latest masterpiece, Zombie Jesus. And it is freely available on his website.
In an exclusive interview with Hero Complex, Christopher Nolan finally broke his silence over the upcoming sequel to the critically acclaimed blockbuster, "The Dark Knight".
And it is "The Dark Knight Rises". A simple and precise name, I must add. Took some time getting used to, but I'm warming up to it.
Along with the official naming of the sequel, set to be released on July 20th, 2012, Nolan has also ruled out The Riddler, AKA Edward Nigma, as the villain of the sequel, to the surprise of many online boards dwellers who have been following the much speculated rumor.
With that, we had two members (Mr. Freeze has been ruled out way earlier) in the Caped Crusader's infamous Rogues Gallery ruled out. The mystery over who will be the chief villain/s in the second sequel of the universally acclaimed series thickens. With the involvement of Tom Hardy still unconfirmed, there's quite a handful to consider about. Geoff Boucher, who conducted the interview, interestingly pondered over the likelihood of a returning Harvey "Two-Face" Dent, referencing an earlier comment by Nolan that "The Dark Knight" refers just as much to Harvey Dent as it does to Batman. Will Two-Face get to rise as well? It will make perfect sense though, further strengthening the continuity of the self-contained trilogy.
In addition, a good news for many (definitely including me) and a bad news for the 3D enthusiasts, Nolan has also confirmed that he had won the argument with Warner Bros. over the issue of jumping on the current in-vogue 3D wagon, and will be sticking to his usage of IMAX cameras. And that is indeed, something most commendable, both for the director's persistence in sticking to his very own vision, and Warner Bros.'s eventual resistance against a considerably much profitable strategy.
Do check out the interesting interview over at Hero Complex .
Based on a story by Christopher Nolan and David Goyer, "The Dark Knight Rises" will again be scripted by Christopher and Jonah Nolan, and is scheduled to be released on July 20, 2012.

Ever have that feeling while watching Reality TV crap like Survivor, The Amazing Race, or Jersey Shore, and suddenly wishing an actual Zombie Apocalypse can be fully unleashed right onto the show, sweeping whatever brain cells left in these so-called participants? I have. Which is why I sure as hell love the incredibly high-concept Dead Set.
Set in the Big Brother house, the critically acclaimed BAFTA-nominated horror drama created by English writer Charlie Brooker, "Dead Set", is one UK produced piece of "win" written all over it. Watch the ever-affable host turned into one freaking mad-on brain juice-crazy zombie while the participants engage in full-blown outrageous nonsensical outbreak of the human kind you can imagine.
Running every day of the week this All Hallow's Eve Week on Independent Film Channel (IFC) in the United States, this is something you just can't miss while on the way to the very Halloween itself. Should you miss any of these precious episodes throughout the week, do note that IFC will be running some kind of a marathon of the show on Sunday from 7:30pm onwards.
