Lee Bermejo's Batman: Noel

Posted by Grey Saturday, February 19, 2011

The Dark Knight is certainly getting more than a little busy now that he has gone global.

Apart from the earlier announced Batman: Gates of Gotham, DC has announced yet another standalone Batman title. And this time, it's a graphic novel written and illustrated by none other than Lee Bermejo.

Acclaimed for his art in his earlier collaboration with writer Brian Azzarello on the much-lauded Joker graphic novel and Lex Luthor: Man of Steel limited series, the holiday-themed graphic novel marks Bermejo's writing debut.

Editor of title, and DC’s VP of Art Direction & Design, Mark Chiarello has this to say to DC Universe blog The Source:

“I’m TOTALLY excited by this project, and not only because Lee Bermejo is such an astounding artist. Sure, the work he’s done in the past (“JOKER” ogn, “WEDNESDAY COMICS”) has been pretty brilliant and I’d expect nothing less from Lee, but the added bonus of BATMAN: NOEL being drawn AND written by Lee is extra cool. In other words, I knew Lee could deliver the goods artistically, but I never knew he was also this great of a writer!”
