Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Advertisement Reeks Of Body Horror

Posted by Grey Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Fans of the Android mascot. Be afraid. Be very afraid before proceeding to watch this reportedly-leaked advertisement of the much-rumored PlayStation Phone.

Long rumored as the PlayStation Phone, the existence of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, while not officially unveiled or confirmed as yet by Sony, is probably the world's worst-kept secret in 2011. Many had thought that it will be announced officially at the very same Sony conference in Tokyo where the NGP (Next Generation Portable) were unveiled but that was not the case. However, the PlayStation Suite was announced.

A software framework that will be used to provide downloadable PlayStation content to devices running Android 2.3 and above as well as the earlier mentioned NGP, the PlayStation Suite is in a way an early confirmation of the eventual coming of the the PlayStation Phone. However, there are still no indication from Sony on the much rumored product.

Until now.

A Norwegian Android site, DroidNYTT, had somehow got hold of a video clip reportedly to be the premiere commercial of the upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. And boy was it a gruesome one.

In this advertisement emboldened with a tinge of body horror, the Android mascot gets a creepy enhancement that somehow reminds me of Tom Six's Human Centipede.

Anyway, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is expected to be officially revealed at the Mobile World Congress in February 2011 along with this premiere advert with a release date somewhere in March 2011.
