Love Zombie: Zombie Of The Week

Prepare for a different kind of Zombie Apocalypse... The cutest kind.

Zombies. Zombies. Zombies. Everywhere you turn in the realm of pop culture, you see their ugly undead head rearing somewhere. Can the done-to-death genre be injected with a refreshing dose of innovation? We can certainly see game developer Chunsoft putting up one heck of an effort with their latest offering for Nintendo DS, Love Zombie.

In Love Zombie, players take control a legion of undead farmers on a quest to take revenge on a group of "evil" humans from another who have took away what was once theirs. With bright lights and cute musics, the game take on the side of the zombies as players can indulge themselves in some Harvest Moon-esque farming action in their base. Why yes, this time, the zombies are on the same side with the plants.

For those who are starting to think what wear antagonists can the humans be, turn that frown upside down for there are plenty of villains to take on. From mad scientists, Frankensteins, mob thugs to luchadors, the game has no limitation when it come to providing antagonists. The game has been released in Japan to warm reception, a fact that I hope will register with the Western publishers to know better than to snub a U.S. port for this one.

Here's the trailer to the game, followed by an oddly cute commercial for the game starring Japanese idol group S Mileage in perhaps the cutest take on the undead.
