With the release of Warner Bros.'s film adaptation of DC Comics's Green Lantern looming, here's a first look at the gameplay of its inevitable spin-off game.

Slated to hit theaters everywhere on June 17th, anticipation for the film adaptation of DC Comics's beloved comic character, Green Lantern, has hit fever pitch, especially after the winning footages that took the crowd at WonderCon by storm. With the original source material being a well-established part of popular culture and the fact that the live-action adaptation is a big Summer blockbuster, it is only right to assume a video game adaptation of the film adaptation of the original comic.

Developed by Double Helix Games (for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) and Griptonite Games (for Wii, DS, 3DS), Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters features 3D visuals, not just on the Nintendo 3DS but also on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In addition, the 3D features for the PlayStation and Xbox 360 will be available in two forms: Anaglyphic 3D, applicable on any standard TV with the 3D glasses that will be included in the game’s package; and stereoscopic 3D for proper 3DTVs.

Here's an official synopsis of the game, from its Facebook page:

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is inspired by the feature film, which brings the enduringly popular DC COMICS SUPER HERO to the big screen for the first time and which stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role as HAL JORDAN, the newest member of the GREEN LANTERN CORPS. In the video game players will utilize over a dozen constructs and take flight across the deepest parts of the Universe to restore intergalactic order by wielding the ultimate weapon: the Green Lantern power ring.

For those that felt that the official synopsis are not exactly telling us what to expect from the title, Superherohype.com has released the accompanying synopsis of the game and details about the game's features on the official package:

"The Manhunters are an android race, originally created by the Guardians of the Universe to serve as the first interstellar police force. The Manhunters became more obsessed with administering punishment than serving justice, forcing the Guardians to dissolve their ranks. The few Manhunters that survived fled into exile and the Guardians founded a new elite police force called the Green Lantern Corps and armed its members with specially crafted power rings. Now the Manhunters are back and out for revenge, readying their forces for a war against the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps. Faced with destruction, the Corps is looking to you as the newest recruit, gifted but cocky test pilot Hal Jordon, to protect peace and preserve justice. Building on the anticipation of Warner Bros.' feature film Green Lantern, in theaters June 17, 2011, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters includes the likeness and voice talent of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, who is the star of the upcoming motion picture."

Product Features

-Master the Ring: Wield the Green Lantern Power Ring to create a spectacular range of "hard-light" constructs including a gatling gun, giant fists, and much more, all of which can be linked together to form an endless number of combinations.
