In commemoration of their 20th anniversary, Esquire UK reached out to twenty creators that they felt represented the theme of 'Man At His Best'. Guessed who turned up for the gaming industry?

Reaching out to twenty creators that they felt represented the theme of 'Man At His Best', Esquire UK approached comedian Ricky Gervais, drum'n'bass musician Goldie, and Rockstar Games amongst the twenty candidates, to design their rendition of the Esquire cover for that issue.

Hit the jump to check out Rockstar Games' cover.

Here's what Rockstar has to say about the cover:

For their 20th anniversary, renowned UK men's magazine, Esquire reached out to 20 creators that they felt represented the theme of 'Man At His Best,' and asked them to design a unique version of the Esquire cover for that issue. Rockstar Games had the honor of being selected alongside such esteemed company as comedian and Grand Theft Auto IV alumni Ricky Gervais, drum'n'bass legend Goldie, Saville Row tailor Richard James among others. Our cover art, designed to reflect the decay that exists alongside all things beautiful, definitely warrants close inspection - not only is it a little creepier than it appears at first glance, but you might see a few things you recognize from our games across the years.

And here is Esquire's write-up on Rockstar Games for the coverage, alongside the full range of 'Man At His Best' covers on the Esquire UK website.

No, you’re not having some sort of hallucination, that’s a hummingbird with a skull and somewhere in there amongst the insects, there’s also a caffeine-hungry Statue Of Liberty, an eagle and a helicopter. This fantastical work of art is what the creative team at gaming kingpin Rockstar has created for our 20th Anniversary Take Cover Project.

When you look at their impressive body of work, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne and LA Noire (coming in May), we suspected the results weren’t going to be straightforward. This, however, was beyond what we hoped for. As Rockstar explain: “Our cover art, designed to reflect the decay that exists alongside all things beautiful, definitely warrants close inspection – not only is it a little creepier than it appears at first glance, but you might see a few things you recognize from our games across the years.”
