This might just be the biggest scoop of the year. Courtesy of badassdigest, the truth behind John Blake, the character Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing in The Dark Knight Rises.

Via Warner Bros.'s official press release last week, we all know by now that both Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be joining fellow collaborator on their previous film, Inception, director Christopher Nolan on his final magnum opus of the Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cotillard will play as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham. Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.

The news set the internet on fire with fan speculations on the real identity behind the roles that the two relatively high-profile actors will be playing. While many came forth with the suggestion that Miranda Tate is a cover identity for Talia Al Ghul, the role of John Blake drew a blank for all speculators. Until now. Badassdigest has uncovered John Blake's tragic origin via this image from The Brave and the Blog.

How's that for a brand new take for an origin of a vigilante?
