The Ambiguously Gay Duo goes Live-Action!

The popular Saturday Night Fever animated sketch gets a Live-Action update!

First introduced in 1996 in "The Dana Carvey Show" before moving on to be part of the Saturday TV Funhouse series at Saturday Night Live (SNL), The Ambiguously Gay Duo was arguably one of the most well-received sketches in the history of SNL. Created and produced by Robert Smigel and J. J. Sedelmaier, The Ambiguously Gay Duo follows the adventures of a pair of vaguely homosexual superheroes, Ace and Gary, voiced by Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell respectively.

Complete with endless outrageous antics and innuendo that will make Fredric Wertham turned in his grave, the superheroic duo continues to be a major bane to their arch-nemesis Bighead with their ambiguously homosexual antics, which incidentally is also a source of great wonder for Bighead's purportedly high intellect.

While there hasn't been a new sketch for the dynamically vague gay duo in years, the last SNL brought us a real surprise: the live-action version of "The Ambiguously Gay Duo"! Featuring Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon as Ace and Gary, respectively, original voice actors Carell and Colbert also played the part of the villains.

Hit the jump to check out the hilarious sketch. (Do head over to NBC to view it in HD.)

Oh, and what's up with the Fredric Wertham reference? Remember that nonsensical theory about how the early Batman comics implied that the Caped Crusader and his boy sidekick, Robin, was having a homosexual relationship? It was famously scrutinized in Fredric Wertham's 1954 book, Seduction of the Innocent. What complete nonsense... Oh wait. Probably not.
