Bernie Wrightson's Frankenstein Returns: Undead Monday

Posted by Grey Monday, May 23, 2011

Bernie Wrightson will finally be reunited with Mary Shelley’s famous monster, Frankenstein. And he's bringing acclaimed horror writer Steve Niles with him.

Renowned for his remarkable work on the horror genre, Bernie Wrightson's personal affection for the undead monster in Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein has been well-documented.

In this special edition of Frankenstein, Wrightson spent seven years to produce approximately 50 detailed pen-and-ink illustrations to accompany the book, complete with an introduction by Stephen King himself.

Fast forward to last week when IDW’s Chris Ryall posted an image that teases an upcoming project reuniting artist Bernie Wrightson with Frankenstein. In addition, Wrightson will be collaborating with his City of Others partner Steve Niles. There is as yet no confirmed published date on the project, now known as Frankenstein, Alive, Alive!.

Check out the below image for another classic illustration of Frankenstein by Wrightson.
