Tekken: Blood Vengeance: First Look

Posted by Grey Saturday, May 14, 2011

Forget about the atrocious Tekken live-action adaptation (incidentally hitting US as a straight-to-DVD). Now this is how a Tekken movie should be like, far away from the clutches of Hollywood executives.

Alright, just to get this over and done with: Just how bad was the Tekken movie? So bad that series creator Katsuhiro Harada felt compelled to badmouth it at his Twitter page.

"That Hollywood movie is terrible. We were not able to supervise that movie (It was cruel contract) I'm not interested in that mv."

Now on to this extremly exciting announcement from Namco that they will be releasing their very own Tekken movie, Tekken: Blood Vengeance, this Summer.

Directed by Youichi Mouri, who directed the awesome Tekken 5 and Tekken 6: BR opening cinematics, with screenplay by writer Dai Sato, who has penned episodes for amazing anime series like Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Blood Vengeance will be a full-length CG animated feature film in Digital 3D.

Running parallel to the canon storyline of the convoluted Tekken series, Blood Vengeance is set between Tekken 5 and 6, and will be featuring some of the game's voice actors. Katsuhiro Harada has promised that the development team behind the game series will be working closely with the film crew, ensuring quality synonimous with the trusted brand in fighting games.

Without further ado, hit the jump to check out the mindblowingly awesome trailer.

Yeah, with cute chicks on flying panda along with the signature hyper-kinetic action sequences one can expect from Tekken, you can bet this is one animated film not to be missed.

  1. Tekken: Blood Vengeance looks like it will bring justice to what a Tekken movie should really be like. Just looking at the trailer tells me that it'll be one amazing movie. But it'll be a while before the rest of us will be able to watch it... unless we go to Japan and watch it in their cinemas.

  2. Grey Said,

Hi Michelle, we here at The Daily Zombies shared your sentiments with regard to the absolute horrific cinematic experience the Tekken live adaptation are. However, you neither have to wait too long nor travel to Japan to catch the Tekken: Blood Vengeance movie as both the CG film and a HD remake of the original Tekken Tag Tournament will be included in the upcoming Tekken Hybrid Blu-ray, set to be released this Fall globally. In addition, if you happened to be a proud owner of Nintendo 3DS, the CG film will also be included on the Tekken 3D Prime Edition cartridge in full 3D.
