Chris Ware does Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

Now here's one movie poster you would never see coming.

For those puzzled by that incomprehensible title, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives is an acclaimed Thai film won the Palme d'Or at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. Directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, the film is, as one would have easily deduced from the psychedelic title, an art-house film that pissed off many of my friends who attempted to comprehend the plot and ended up almost an intellectually-challenged person. Yes, I have heard talks of some unlikely bestiality scene here. A pity I have never gotten a go at the film, which definitely seemed like an arresting venture based on this cool poster illustrated by Chris Ware, famed for his work on the Acme Novelty Library series and the graphic novel Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Kid on Earth,

The poster is on sale at Mondo for $75 and is a limited edition of 400.

Poster by Chris Ware. 24 "x 36" 10 COLOR screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 400.
