Behold. The butchery of Lady Gaga's global anthem in Singapore's National Day Parade. Bad Romance just got way too BAD.

JJ Lin, the mostly mediocre Mandopop singer-songwriter from Singapore must be thrilled. For his god-awful Singapore YOG Cheer for the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics (YOG 2010) has finally been outdone.

During a rehearsal at this year's National Day Parade of Singapore celebrating Singapore's 46th year of independence, "Fun Pack Song", a song about your trusty little freebie goodie bag and its oh-so-precious contents during its give-away at the event, was the source of numerous Singaporeans' horrors when they attended last Saturday's rehearsal. The two-and-a-half-minute video clip went viral with overwhelmingly negative comments aiming on the incredibly, for lack of a better word, stupid lyrics saddled on the popular track. In response, the Ministry of Defence of Singapore released a media statement, indicating that they did not realise that the rights obtained for usage of the track did not include rights to modify the lyrics of the song.

Here's what Colonel Ong Tze-Ch'in, chairman of the NDP 2011 Show Committee, has to say: "We're in the process of working with the recording and publishing company to try to secure the rights to modify the lyrics and until then we will not perform the song.

"We'll revert to the usual format of having the show host to announce the various Fun Pack items. Every year for NDP in the pre-parade segment, the show host always comes forward to introduce different Fun Pack items. So what we did this year is to try to do it in a fresh and light-hearted way because this year we're taking a musical concept, so we hoped for a fresh and light-hearted approach to introduce these Fun Pack items."

Incidentally, Lady Gaga happened to be in Singapore today for the SingTel AMPed 'Born This Way' Lady Gaga showcase and we kind of secretly hoped that an inept local reporter can get his/her journalism altogether and pop her the question on what's her thoughts that her global mega-hit, "Bad Romance" has been butchered into "Fun Pack Song".
