Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - First Look

The Spirit of Vengeance rides again on the big screen next year. Courtesy of the latest issue of Empire, have your first look at the all-new. all-different sequel to the atrocious 2007 live-action adaptation directed by Mark Steven Johnson.

Good ol' flaming skull Ghost Rider lives yet again in the big screen come February 17th next year. With the dynamic duo of directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor at helm, shall we remained fearful of what Nicholas Cage might be bringing to the table this time round?

At the Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance panel at Comic-Con, directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (who famously brought us the deliciously bat-shit crazy flick Crank and its equally lunatic sequel) presented attendees with footages of the film. Among the highlights most will be taking away from the show would be the Spirit of Vengeance peeing hellfire. And the new innovation on the demonic superhero: Whatever Ghost Rider rises on will automatically becomes a hellish demonic version of it. So we might just be in for some exhilarating Ghost-mobile, Ghost-pod, or probably a Ghost-toilet. In addition, Nicholas Cage, reprising his role of Johnny Blaze (a point of contention that will no doubt make or break the sequel), will be providing the movement for the Ghost Rider.

The new and improved (and severely burned) bike for Ghost Rider were on display at the Ghost Rider Booth.

And the cool poster for the film was also spotted everywhere in San Diego.

Idris Elba as Moreau, described as a drinking, demon-killing, French monk.

The same-old, never-different, Nicholas Cage.

The synopsis from the film, courtesy of Screen Rant:

The Ghost Rider sequel is reportedly set several years after the first film and finds Johnny Blaze in self-imposed exile from the world. Blaze has become a tormented soul, convinced that his powers are a curse – which makes him completely different from every other superhero ever conceived.

Former stuntman Blaze is then approached by Moreau, a member of the monastic order of Michael, the warrior angel. Moreau seeks a protector for a mother and son duo (Nadva and Dannv, respectively) who are being pursued by a figure named Roarke – a fellow with a detailed knowledge of the Ghost Rider and his “… different identities over the centuries.”
