An Amazing Fan Rendition of Metroid’s Samus

Posted by Grey Friday, August 12, 2011

The past weekend marks Metroid's 25th anniversary. Artist Justin Currie (AKA ChaseJC at deviantART brings us one amazing rendition of Samus Aran, the protagonist of Nintendo's beloved series.

First released in 1986 and notable for being one of the first video games to feature a female protagonist, the Metroid series has in time grown to be one of Nintendo's most financially successful and critically acclaimed franchises. While views over Team Ninja's Metroid: Other M are polarized, the adventures of bounty hunter Samus Aran continued to capture the imagination of fans across the globe with Samus being a popular focus of the cosplay community, and consistently appearing in other video games as well as manga and comics.

While we are not quite certain if the timing was intentional or coincidental, artist Justin Currie (AKA ChaseJC at deviantART has produced an awesome illustration depicting Samus in a state of her armor's disintegration.

I've never really played any of the metroid games, but the Samus character has always intrigued me- and I love how her armour disintegrates/explodes around her. thought it would make for a good vector painting

Its up to you guys if she's putting it on, or taking it off
