Frank Cho's X-Men: Schism Covers

With news of Frank Cho's involvement on an X-Men miniseries in the pipeline, we take a look at his amazing covers for all five issue of the team-splitting X-Men: Schism limited series.

Earlier last week, Frank Cho, the Korean-American comic book writer and illustrator better known for his series Liberty Meadows and some of his Marvel assignments, unveiled a short list of work that will coming out in the next 12 months, inclusive of a new X-Men miniseries:

X-MEN miniseries written and drawn by me. I can’t say too much right now but this miniseries will have three of the hottest women in the Marvel Universe.

And that is of course an awesome news for the artist renowned for his rendition of the female form. And with his covers for the five-issue X-Men: Schism limited series, we are very certain that the merry mutants are in good hands.

We take a look at the line art for the completed piece for the interlocking covers of the series (click to view in high resolution).

First posted in April following Marvel's official announcement of the X-Men: Schism series, here's what Cho has to say on the enormous piece:

Marvel just announced at the WonderCon the epic X-Men miniseries that will split the X-Men team in two. And I was lucky enough to do the covers to all 5 issues.

Well here it is, ladies and germs. The giant X-Men: Schism cover (5 interlocking covers) that I’ve been slaving over for the last 3 weeks. The original art is 62 inches by 21 inches. It was drawn on three large papers taped together by a special archival tape that the Library of Congress uses. I used my usual Micron Pigma pens (sizes 08 and 01) with a light ink wash and gray Copic markers to accent the figures from the background.

I had a blast drawing this cover, despite the new characters who were completely alien to me. I was happy to draw the core characters that I grew up with.

And here are the colored covers released thus far.
