In Time: Trailers & Poster

Posted by Grey Tuesday, August 9, 2011

The director of Gattaca, the film that was called by notable film critic, Roger Ebert, as "one of the smartest and most provocative of science fiction films", is back with another high concept sci-fi film.

In 1997, then-unknown director Andrew Niccol brought us Gattaca, a science fiction film set in "the not-too-distant future" that is a more realistic future than most of the other standard futuristic fare from Hollywood. Depicting a dystopian society where genetic discrimination ran deep, the film explore both the timeless theme of fate and the potential consequences over the growing development of liberal eugenics.

Come October 28th, In Time, a new science fiction thriller film set in yet another "not-too-distant future" featuring the bold vision of Andrew Niccol will be upon us. Previously titled Now and I'm.mortal, the film features some very fashionable cast with Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Matt Bomer, and Olivia Wilde leading the cast. But don't the cover of this book turn you away. In Time sports some pretty high concept to pull off. In the future depicted in the film, the aging gene was overcame by technology, but with the aging of all mankind stopping at the age of twenty-five, the goal for human became working to earn more time to stay alive. In short, time has essentially took over as the only currency in the world in order to avoid overpopulation. When a young man, Will Salas (Justin Timberlake as the protagonist), inherit a massive fortune of time from a mysterious man (Matt Bomer), he was accused of murder and forced to be on the run from the corrupt police force. The pursuit soon turned into a war of the upper class as Salas challenge the new order of time. Oh, and Olivia Wilde is the mother of Justin Timberlake in the film.

Based on what we have observed from the trailer as well as reports emerging from coverage over the film's panel at Comic-Con, we are inclined to the impression that this should be more than just another futuristic "fugitive chase" thriller.

And here's the cool footage that debuted at Comic-Con.

The official synopsis of the film:

When Will Salas (Timberlake) is falsely accused of murder, he must figure out a way to bring down a system where time is money -- literally -- enabling the wealthy to live forever while the poor, like Will, have to beg, borrow, and steal enough minutes to make it through another day.

Here are the official posters that have been released thus far, followed by the set still pictures.
