This week marks the release of Deep Silver and Techland's Dead Island. We take one last look at the first-person survival horror today, incidentally an Undead Monday.

Set to be released in North America on September 6th and in the rest of the world on September 9th, 2011, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, perhaps the most significant and memorable feature of Dead Island would be its announcement trailer, which soon turned into an overnight internet viral sensation. Just how sensational did the well-edited got? For starters, a Hollywood treatment of the property were reportedly in plans with a Hollywood producer acquiring the filming rights soon after its release.

Needless to say, the survival horror title published by Deep Silver and developed by Polish-based studio Techland was upended by its trailer, with many peolpe more concerned with the emotionally engaging clip than the gameplay of the title, of which little to no association to the clip was actually in place (apart from the zombie-infested tropical island setting).

And here we are, on the verge of the release of the title, which perhaps explains the reintroduction of the tune from the announcement trailer for people to make the necessary connection. While we are pretty much unsure about how Dead Island will play out to be, we have this to say. If you are only interested in the title due to the heartbreaking trailer, you might want to stay back for now as we seriously suspect that the title is less serious than what most thought.
