Great Scott! The iconic Nike Air Mag, the self-lacing sneakers Michael J. Fox's Marty McFly wore in the world of 2015 in Back to the Future Part II is now a reality.

For those growing up in the glorious 80s, Robert Zemeckis's Back to the Future trilogy is undoubtedly one of the most influential sci-fi films of their time. Immensely imaginative and entertaining, the trilogy (or at least the first two installments) are exemplary of intriguing family entertainment, something that the 90s failed in its delivery.

Perhaps one of the most memorable scenes of 1989's Back to the Future Part II would be the short sequence depicting protagonist Marty McFly's trip to the future world of 2015, impersonating his son, Marty McFly, Jr. During this scene, we see some exhilarating gadgets of the future such as the hoverboard and Nike Air Mag, a pair of self-lacing sneakers from Nike.



With Nike patenting the product back in August last year, many has been speculating the release of the futuristic sneakers. And now, it has been offcially announced: Nike Air Mag has arrived, just like how they looked on the feets of Michael J. Fox back in 1989.

The Nike Air Mag aka “Marty McFly” shoe has captured every eye in the sneaker community within the past 24 hours. Earlier today, we notified you that Mr. Marty McFly himself, Michael J. Fox will appear on David Letterman tonight with some details regarding this highly anticipated release; however, we have just learned from Nike CEO Mark Parker that there will be 1500 pairs auctioned on eBay. All of the proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Stay tuned for the official date of the eBay auction.

**Note**: 1500 pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG will be auctioned on eBay with all net proceeds going directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Each day for the duration of the 10-day auction, 150 of the 2011 NIKE MAG shoes will be made available via eBay’s Fashion Vault. The auction starts September 8, 8:30PM PST, and will end September 18.
