Max Payne 3: First Look

Posted by Grey Friday, September 16, 2011

Hard-boiled anti-hero Max Payne is finally back after a nine-year hiatus, courtesy of Rockstar Vancouver! Check out the all-new ass-kicking Payne in action in this hard-hitting trailer.

And by that, it's a given that the "all-new ass-kicking" Payne looks nothing like Mark Wahlberg in the incredibly inept, critically-panned live-action adaptation of Max Payne in 2008.

Since the release of Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, the second installment in the series, in 2003, fans of the critically acclaimed Third-Person Shooter have been anticipating the return of the dual gun-toting anti-hero, Max Payne. With Rockstar taking over the helm from Finnish game developer Remedy Entertainment and series creator Sam Lake, Max Payne 3 was first announced in late 2009, but was subsequently pushed back indefinitely. And now, with Rockstar announcing that the much-anticipated sequel will be released on March 25th next year, the first trailer has been released.

With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the action-packed trailer.

With Rockstar Games at helm, we are reasonable excited with the latest installment in the prestigious franchise. Rockstar is easily one of the most consistent source of great games for the past few years with Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire among numerous other titles. With a drastically transformed Max Payne, a new chapter for the hard-boiled action man is in store. Set eight to twelve years after the events of 2003's Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, Payne is now older and more world-weary than ever. Leaving New York City behind, Payne is now working in the the private security sector for a wealthy local family in São Paulo, Brazil. Naturally, catastrophic trouble follows. Based on what we saw in the trailer, it seems that the series' signature uses of "bullet time" will be back. Set to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 25th next year, check out the promotional images from the title right after the jump.
