Original Superman Illustrations in Tribute to Mike Meyer

Posted by Grey Sunday, September 18, 2011

The level of douchebaggery of the earlier reported incident where a mentally disabled Superman fan from Granite City, Illinois was robbed of his collection of vintage Superman memorabilia and comics by his former co-worker was unprecedented. In response, the online comic community paid tribute to Mike the only and best way they can: Draw Superman.

We have earlier reported on the incident where lifelong Superman fan, Mike Meyer, was robbed of his prized collection of vintage Superman memorabilia and comics by his former co-worker. For those who have not heard of the incident, you can check out our earlier coverage here.

While the scumbag has not been caught as yet, it war reported by Greg Hatcher from Comic Book Resources that according to a relative of Mike, "the police are on it, they know who the thief is and they are still hoping to recover the collection". That said, it was added by the relative that it would be nice if they were to receive "some kind of a card or something, ideally something with Superman on it." With that, original illustrations depicting the Man of Steel in action have been pouring in online.

For those who are interested in showering Mike with a little warmness from the comic community, here is the address:

Mike Meyer c/o Bill Smith
7041 Kingsbury Blvd.
St. Louis, Mo. 63130

You can view numerous entries of the collected illustrations at Greg Hatcher's original post here. Meanwhile, over at Comic Book Resources'"The Line It Is Drawn" feature, seven artists have come together to roll out original illustrations to cheer Mike up.
