1 Ruthless Crime Lord
20 Elite Cops
30 Floor of Hell

That's the tagline of the Indonesian action film, The Raid, the film with the most straightforward premise one can expected in an action film that have been garnering rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Hailed by critics and audience as one of the best action movies in years after its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), The Raid (AKA Serbuan Maut) is an Indonesian film directed by Welsh Director Gareth Evans. The second collaboration of Evans and Indonesian martial arts actor Iko Uwais, the film is similar to their first film in 2009, Merantau, in its heavy emphasis on Indonesian traditional martial art Pencak Silat in their respective choreographies.

After wowing the attendees at TIFF, it was reported that Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisition acquired the distribution rights of the film for the US during the Cannes Film Festival, and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park has been tapped to provide a new score for the film.

Following an elite SWAT team as they scale a 30-storey high-rise building filled with all sorts of low-lifes in the city of Jakarta, Indonesia, to take down a ruthless drug lord named Tama, the team, with no reinforcement, must survive the ordeal.

Here's the hard-hitting, action-packed Red-Band trailer to the film. You can have a sneak preview of Mike Shinoda's score in the background.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

In the heart of Jakarta lies a rundown apart¬ment infested with druggies and drifters. It’s ruled by a ruthless drug lord who uses the tenement to shelter his junkie customers, pushers, enforcers and brutal killers. The apartment block is considered untouch¬able by even the bravest of police—until one early morning when, cloaked under dawn’s dark¬ness, an elite SWAT team, led by officer Rama (Uwais), raids the peril-filled structure. As Rama’s squad races between the maze of rooms and floors, encountering a barrage of gunfire, machetes, and ruthless hand-to-hand combat around every corner, the stakes get higher and higher building to an explosive crescendo and an ultimate battle.
