Welcome to the happiest day of your life (Or lack thereof) with the release of the bloody breathtaking first trailer of the third chapter of the [●REC] saga.

In an unprecedented situation, we have our "Zombie of the Week" right at the start of the week!

Zombie films have now been written into the corner with increasingly ludicrous concepts (Cuban zombie apocalypse, anyone), and the last truly brilliant film depicting the lives (or lack thereof) and times of the regular undead would have to be Ruben Fleischer's Zombieland in 2009 (incidentally the winner of The Daily Zombies's Zombie of the Year 2009).

Now, with the re-emergence of Spain's brain-lickingly brilliant [●REC] saga with its third and latest chapter, [REC]3 Génesis, we might have a cool contender for this year's Zombie of the Year. With a cool mix of humor, realism, hyper-realism, and some good old undead chums, we are at the very least certain that this is one of the coolest trailer of a zombie film in a long time.

Here's the official synopsis to the film:

It's new, it's different, it's the reinvention of the saga! What you've all been waiting for! The virus has left the building… Run, flee and don't look back. With this latest film, director Paco Plaza is pumping new blood into the [REC] franchise.

The third chapter of the saga will have spectators back on the edge of their seats with more action and more humour that will take us back to the essence of the first film: true to life characters and scenarios that the audience can't help but relate to. The happiest day of your life.


Directed by Paco Plaza, the Spanish release of [REC]3 Génesis is slated to hit the cinemas on March 30th 2012. The release date for the earlier announced [REC]4 Apocalipsis is currently to be advised.
