In memory of Dutch artist Mick Oosterveer who was killed in a motorcycle accident last month, BOOM! Studios has offered two of the late artist’s work for free.

While we have to confess that the name Mick Oosterveer did not exactly rang any bells for us here at The Daily Zombies, we do remembered having an interest in pursuing The Unknown limited series written by Mark Waid with art by Oosterveer some time back despite having the title slipping out of mind eventually. In retrospect, we should have actively track down the title, not because of the fact that Oosterveer passed away on September 17th in a motorcycle accident, but for the simple fact that on reading the first arc of the series, we were exposed to the talents of the renowned artist in Europe.

Well-known in Europe for his daily strip Nicky Saxx, Storm, Jack Pott and Zodiak, Dutch artist Mick Oosterveer has in recent times became gradually known in the America comic industry for his recent work with Mark Waid on the two four-issue series published by BOOM! Studios, The Unknown and The Unknown: The Devil Made Flesh, as well as the recent Ruse mini-series published by Marvel.

In honor of the work and life of Oosterveer, BOOM! Studios has offered both collected editions of The Unknown and The Unknown: The Devil Made Flesh for free on comiXology, as well iVerse, Graphicly and mydigitalcomics.

Matt Gagnon, the Editor-in-Chief at BOOM! Studios has put up a heart-felt appreciation of Oosterveer while you can pay your tribute to the artist at his Facebook page. For those who wants to learn more about the artist, you can check out his website as well as his deviantART page.

While our limited knowledge on Oosterveer restricted us from issuing an official obituary in honor of the beloved artist, we here at The Daily Zombies would like to take this opportunity to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Minck Oosterveer.
