Daniel Acuña Takes on Avengers

Posted by Grey Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Following the "Mighty" conclusion to Marvel's "Fear Itself", rising star artist Daniel Acuña takes on the art chores to work with writer Brian Michael Bendis on Marvel's flagship title, The Avengers.

When it comes to Damage Control's most loathed superheroes, I guessed Black Goliaths pretty much got the market cornered. Following the cataclysmal events in the concluding chapter of Marvel's "Fear Itself", Steve Rogers, returning in his role as Captain America, must reassemble The Avengers in time to take on Norman Osborn's newly-assembled Dark Avengers. Needless to say, auditions are ongoing.

Taking over from previous artists John Romita, Jr. and Chris Bachalo, Marvel has officially announced that rising star artist Daniel Acuña will be the new ongoing Avengers artist beginning with October's issue #18.

Here's what the creators have to say about their latest project:

“Every time Daniel and I have worked together it has been a really fantastic experience and everyone loved it,” said Bendis. “The only thing we have never done before is hunker down and make a real run of things together. So here we go!”

"As an artist and as a professional, I am extremely happy to be working with Brian again,” said Acuña. “And come on, drawing the Avengers? They RULE! Aside from being the best, most charismatic team in comics – they always fight the biggest, meanest, and most powerful villains. All that, plus Captain America leading the team... what more can I ask for?!"
