David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo hits the cover of the latest issue of Empire. With scans of the enticing photo spreads finding their way online, check them out right here.

Earlier last week, we have just checked out the almost-four minute full trailer of David Fincher's Hollywood adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. As much as one would like to argue that Fincher is "adapting" directly from the original Swedish novel by the late Stieg Larsson as opposed to remaking Niels Arden Oplev's brilliant 2009 adaptation, those who have watched the latter would have no doubt find the visuals from the two films markedly similar. With that said, and despite our usual misgiving for Hollywood remakes, we still find Fincher's rendition of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo intriguingly alluring, a result of the director's remarkable body of work, the music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and perhaps the noticeable chemistry between the two leads.

In the latest issue of Empire (incidentally our favorite film magazine right beside Sight & Sound), the Hollywood edition of Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander, the eponymous Girl with the Dragon Tattoo grace the cover as both Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara are featured in an extended feature article on the upcoming film.

Scans from the captivating photo spread for the magazine have found its way online courtesy of First Showing who directed us to these Flickr links at IMDB. Hit the jump to feast on these enticing photo spreads featuring the two leads.

Here's the official synopsis of the film:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first film in Columbia Pictures’ three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s literary blockbuster The Millennium Trilogy. Directed by David Fincher and starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, the film is based on the first novel in the trilogy, which altogether have sold 50 million copies in 46 countries and become a worldwide phenomenon. The screenplay is by Steven Zaillian.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is currently scheduled to be released in the United States on December 21st.
