Marvel Unveils New Fantastic Four

True Believers, behold. Red Hulk, Venom, She-Ghost Rider, and X-23, now collectively known as the new Fantastic Four!

Remember the wacky all-new, all-different line-up of Marvel's Fantastic Four in 1990, featuring Ghost Rider, Hulk, Spider-Man, and Wolverine, and brought to you by the creative team of Walt Simonson and Art Adams?

Well, they are back. One way or another.

Announced at a conference held by Marvel Comics yesterday, the short-lived "New Fantastic Four" will return in the pages of Rick Remender's Venom series starting from issue #13 that will be hitting the stands in February 2012. However, in an interesting twist, the members of the new team is only similar to the previous incarnation only in name, with a new group of legacy heroes filling in the ranks: The new female Ghost Rider, Alejandra, Red Hulk (General "Thunderbolt" Ross), the new Venom (Flash Thompson), and X-23, Wolverine's female clone.

As ludicrous as the idea of an actual female Ghost Rider may be, it seems that the entire premise of the new as-yet-untitled event is intentionally farcical.

The story takes place in Las Vegas, where our mischievous bad guy is the owner of a giant Hell-themed casino that we jokingly call "Hellagio." During the course of all the other stories, Flash has been sent on a mission to Las Vegas, and his life is low. Captain America has sent the Red Hulk to investigate. Red Hulk and Venom are on a crash course of sorts, as are Ghost Rider and X-23.

Joining Remender on the title would be writers Jeff Parker and Rob Williams. The "New Fantastic Four" arc will kick off in Venom #13, followed by #13.1, #13.2, #13.3, and #13.4 throughout February 2012 before wrapping up in the following month's Venom #14.
