A New (Old) Raiden?

Behold, a new (or old) Raiden, as tweeted by Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima.

Raiden (雷電) from Konami's critically acclaimed series of action-adventure stealth video games, Metal Gear Solid, has been mostly controversial, both for his perceived androgynous appearance and his surprise role as the protagonist of Metal Gear Solid 2. That said, we are pretty certain that most will agree that he looked pretty kick-ass in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and will most likely make an even cooler presence in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

Earlier today, Hideo Kojima, the famed creator the Metal Gear Solid series, posted this gorgeous illustration of Raiden on his Twitter account. Resembling more of his older (and more androgynous) self, the image might just be a cool fan art, or we could be looking at a concept art of the much-anticipated Metal Gear Solid: Rising which will explore Raiden's transformation from his MGS2 form into the vicious cyborg ninja we saw in MGS4.

It could meant nothing, but do check out the image right after the jump.
