This Halloween... My 'Nightmarish' Neighbor Totoro

Posted by Grey Saturday, October 29, 2011

Forget the warm and fuzzy charm of Hayao Miyazaki's iconic 1988 anime film, My Neighbor Totoro. Prepare yourself for the darkly macabre nightmarish vision of the classic conjured by artist Sachsen.

This Halloween, we have stumbled upon what might just be one of the most successful piece of dark genre-bending mash-up fan art that triumphantly impose a sense of chilling horror into Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's epic 1988 anime film, My Neighbor Totoro.

The well-known poster of the classic anime film takes a dark gruesome turn with a demonic Totoro opens its beastly trap filled with mutilated corpses as a Satsuki trembles in the rain, shotgun in hand.

This remarkable fan art has seemingly been around for some time time since 2009. For those who, like us, never get to witness its grand horror, hit the jump to check out the image. Do click on the image to view it in its gloriously grisly original size.

And here's the original for your reference.
