Art of Tomb Raider: 15-Year Celebration

Posted by Grey Saturday, November 19, 2011

Celebrating 15 years of Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics brought together a gallery of artists with distinctively different art styles to pay tribute to the one and only Lara Croft.

How time flies. As cliché an expression this is, one can't help but recall the humble first appearance of Lara Croft, the eponymous Tomb Raider in the wildly popular action-adventure video games series that went on to become a true icon of gaming industry that for better or worse defined the entire gaming era of the 90s: A heavily pixelated British adventurer with polygon asset. Since Eidos' original Tomb Raider in 1996, excluding portable and mobile versions, the ten installments from the series has made the title one of the best-selling video games franchises of all time.

With Crystal Dynamics's upcoming reboot of Tomb Raider bringing Lara Croft back to a younger and more vulnerable foundation stage of her adventurous life, the series has evolved once again. In commemoration of the 15-year anniversary of the series last month, Crystal Dynamics kicked off the party with a month-long art exhibition showcasing the work from eight artists with distinctively different art style, giving us an intriguing retrospective on the video game icon.

With all the work unveiled now, The Daily Zombies has gathered these work here for your consumption, complete with the artists' profile and the wallpaper version of each pieces.
