The Dark Knight in 1966

What if Christopher Nolan's seminal Batman epic, The Dark Knight, was shot in 1966 for TV?

The 1966 Batman TV series starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin is quite possibly the epitome of campyness of which there can be no equal. On the other hand, The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan's 2008 sequel to his well-received 2005 reboot of the Batman film franchise, Batman Begins, is without a doubt standing at the very peak of comics-to-big screen adaptation and arguably, film-making in general.

Now imagine The Dark Knight shot and produced in 1966 for TV?

As unthinkable a concept as that is, graphic artist David Rose take on the challenge and recreated the opening animation for the 1966 Batman TV series complete with animated versions of Christian Bale, Heath Ledger and Gary Oldman in their 2008's The Dark Knight appearance. Holy Dark Knight! Hit the jump to check out the awesome clip.

Rose, who usually put up intriguing in-depth reviews in a series of web video series at The DVD Shelf over at his website, Happy Dragon Pictures, created the animation for his entry for the critically acclaimed 2008 film, a recommended viewing for any fans of the film.
