Are you ready for a massively multiplayer online assault of the Marvel Universe? Fraid' not, true believers, because the Marvel Massively Multiplayer Society are here to help with these cool character designs for the upcoming MMOG.

With DC Universe Online, DC Comics and Sony Online Entertainment's ambitious MMORPG, has the MMORPG market that was previously dominated by the sword-and-sorcery fantasy genre opened up to superheroes? While the success of DC Universe Online cannot be denied with the title going Free to Play since November 1st as part of its revenue model, the critical reception was mostly a mix-bag that are just a little above the average range.

And now, with Marvel Universe, a true opponent in every meaning of the word has finally arise to take down their Distinguished Competitor. A browser-based Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) currently under developement by Gazillion Entertainment, Marvel Universe is designed by Secret Identity Studios and boasts writing credits by Brian Michael Bendis, the current lead writer of the comic books published by Marvel. Interestingly mirroring DC Universe Online of which Geoff Johns is the principal writer, Marvel Universe is however entirely different in its gameplay. While DC Universe Online forces players to create their very own superheroes, it was mentioned that Marvel Universe would be allowing players to assume the role of their favorite superheroes while taking on missions based on classic storylines from Marvel's Golden Age to alternate realities like the Ultimate Universe as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If that last point does turned out to be true, we can announce a winner already.

While Gazillion Entertainment has remained low profile on the upcoming MMOG, the Marvel Massively Multiplayer Society's Tumblr feed has managed to sneak out several character designs for our viewing pleasure.
