Men in Black III: First Posters

Posted by Grey Sunday, December 4, 2011

The Men in Black are set to return after a ten-year hiatus since 2002's Men in Black II. In anticipation of the film's release in 2012, Columbia Pictures has released two new posters for the film.

It has almost been a decade since 2002's Men in Black II underwhelmed us. While the original Men in Black in 1997 was a true rip-roaring genre-bending sci-fi comedy, the sequel basically tread within its old ground and in its safe and reserved way, failed to capture the imagination of the original. So now the question has to be: Will third time really the charm for the MIB film franchise?

Picking up where the first sequel left us, Men in Black III took on another fan-favorite recurring theme in sci-fi culture: Time-traveling. After the much-reported rewrites of the film'scripts, what we do know now is that Agent J (Will Smith) will be traveling back in time to the 1960s to save the live of a young Agent K (Josh Brolin) and of course, the fate of the universe. Tommy Lee Jones will also be reprising the role of Agent K in present day. New inclusion to the cast are Emma Thompson as Agent O while Alice Eve will be portraying the same role in the 60s. Nicole Scherzinger, of the Pussycat Dolls, will be the antagonist who happens to be the girlfriend of the young Agent K.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.

With the release of the first posters, a viral campaign has also officially kicked off. At the bottom of the posters, you can find a link,, that will lead you to a viral Facebook account owned by 'BugEyes126' (a hint for the first trailer to hit the theaters on December 6th?), who has the following message to share:

"I've uncovered that there's these Men in Black suits who monitor and police alien activity on earth. Up until now no one believes me, so I'm on a mission to prove that they're real and that's why I started this Facebook page. More soon."

Directed by returning director Barry Sonnenfeld, Men in Black III is currently scheduled to release in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on May 25th, 2012.
