Nicholas Cage's Johnny Blaze is set to return to the big screen come next weekend. We take another look at the film this Undead Monday.

Back in December, we have seen the second trailer as well as several posters of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, an effort to reboot that 2007 Mark Steven Johnson-directed cinematic train wreck by co-directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor.

While Mark Steven Johnson's directing career might have been condemned to hell much like Johnny Blaze in the original Marvel comic (his last directing effort was 2010's rom-com, When in Rome), the Neveldine/Taylor team-up has been proven to be an up-and-coming force with Crank and its sequel, Crank: High Voltage. Will Johnny Blaze's cinematic soul be saved by the duo or will Nicholas continue his nose-dive into mediocre film limbo? We shall see come next weekend.

In the meantime, check out the cool behind-the-scene featurette of the film right after the jump.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Nicolas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze in Columbia Pictures’ and Hyde Park Entertainment’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. In the successor to the worldwide hit Ghost Rider, Johnny – still struggling with his curse as the devil’s bounty hunter – is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy – and possibly rid himself of his curse forever. Directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Screenplay by Scott M. Gimple & Seth Hoffman and David S. Goyer. Story by David S. Goyer. Based on the Marvel Comic. Produced by Steven Paul, Ashok Amritraj, Michael De Luca, Avi Arad, and Ari Arad.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is scheduled to open in 3D on February 17th, 2012.
