Argo: First Look

The incredible true story behind the rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis is unveiled in Argo, Ben Affleck's third film as a director.

With an astoundingly incredible turns of events, the true story behind the rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis has been an exemplary example of the kind of strange tales that despite its ridiculous nature, proved to be all-too-real for us to comprehend. That said, you have to agree on how it is perfectly logical. So shall we credit George Lucas for creating Star Wars that allow us to dream up distant lands for sci-fi scenarios?

All things said and done, the unbelievable tale is just begging for one to tell on the big screen and in Ben Affleck;s hands, we may have a winner following the badly-reviewed actor-turned-critically acclaimed director's triumphant directorial works in 2007's Gone Baby Gone and 2010's The Town.

And here's the first poster of the film.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Based on true events, “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

Starring Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Kyle Chandler, Kerry Bishe, Alan Arkin, and director Ben Affleck himself, Argo is currently scheduled to be released on October 12th.
