The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Epic New Banner

Posted by Grey Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Brace yourself for an epic banner worthy of the epic, and unexpected journey set to arrive this December with Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

We have last covered Director Peter Jackson's upcoming two-part epic fantasy film, The Hobbit, with the release of the official trailer and first poster of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first part of the two films.

Today, Warner Bros. graciously released an astonishing hi-res banner from the film online. Stretching across the many arcs in The Hobbit, the upcoming prequel of the best-selling Lord of the Rings film series, the banner is truly a spectacle in itself.

With no further ado, hit the jump to check out the epic banner (for those who wishes to view the banner in its original killer hi-res, click on the second and larger image to view the full banner in all its glory).

Excited over the banner but wondering how trouble it would be to have this image fit into your particular desktop thanks to its somewhat elongated size? Worry no more. Warner Bros. has roll out an awesome new website just for the purpose of allowing one to create a wallpaper for their respective desktop, phone, Facebook, and Twitter. Using simple tools for all to crop accordingly to their preference, this is one of the most effective campaign I have seen thus far.

And here's the other recently-released poster from the film.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

"The Hobbit" follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever … Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

The Hobbit will be released in two parts, with "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" scheduled to be released on December 14th, 2012, and "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" on December 13, 2013.
