This Undead Monday, in commemoration of WWE Monday Night Raw's monumental 1,000 episode tonight, we take a look at some of the great late wrestlers whom larger-than-life personalities invigorate our collective childhood forever, courtesy of I Love Dust's Dead Wrestlers Society.
As WWE and the "WWE Universe" (for the uninformed, that's a collective title for the WWE fans) celebrate the monumental 1,000 episode of Monday Night Raw in a star-studded episode with reportedly more than a dozen of returning former WWF/E Superstars, we take a step back from the self-congratulations and hyperbole-filled rhetoric from WWE and pay tribute to some of the great late wrestlers whom vibrant personalities brighten our childhood watching otherwise insignificant and stale television in the late 80s and early 90s, courtesy of I Love Dust's Dead Wrestlers Society.
In the words of the talented folks from I Love Dust:
Professional Wrestling has given us some of the most colourful and charismatic characters in sports history.
Defying all attempts at labelling or categorisation these huge writhing muscular masses of outrageous behaviour clad in ever-changing wardrobes of flamboyant costumes and crazy color-ways.
What better muse for ilovedust?
An exhibition that took place late last year, Dead Wrestlers Society featured some truly awesome art commissioned to pay tribute to some of the late wrestlers that have helped in shaping what we now called "Sports Entertainment". On a day like today of which millions.. and millions of fans celebrate the eventful episode, let's not forget these mostly unsung and understated performers who have shaped our TV -viewing experiences forever way back in the late 80s and early 90s, paving the way of the great things that came along.
Hit the jump to check out some of these awesome art.
