With the phenomenal success of Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One behind us now, Marvel officially announces their next master plan: Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two, with Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the much-talked-about Ant-Man directed by Edgar Wright!
Now we are talking. With Marvel's Iron Man 3 panel taking place today at Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con International, everyone knew they are going in for one hell of a ride based on our past experiences with the incredible showmanship from marketing people at Marvel. And Marvel certainly doesn't disappoint. Before we get into the main event of Iron Man 3, Marvel officially announced the details of their much-talked-about Phase Two of their mega-successful Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Beginning with clips from the previous Marvel Studios films, the panel got off to a great start when the clip ended to give us the title screens of Phase Two introduced by Kevin Feige, the head honcho at Marvel Studios. Complete with their respective release dates, they are:
Iron Man 3 - May 3, 2013
Thor: The Dark World - November 8, 2013
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - April 4, 2014
Guardians of the Galaxy - August 1, 2014
And last but certainly not the least, the introduction of acclaimed director Edgar Wright with his much-talked-about Ant-Man.
And to turn on the crowd even further, a rather rough test footage of Ant-Man switching his ant size to normal as he take on two agents were shown during the panel.
According to Wright, "Ant Man will kick your ass one inch at a time." While there are no casting news, Wright confirms the presence of Ant-Man in Hall H as he points to an empty seat.
Back on the subject at hand, we will talk about Iron Man 3 in details on a later article. In the meantime, Feige also confirmed the rumors that Zachary Levi (Chuck) will be replacing Joshua Dallas for the role of Fandral, a role originally up for him that he has to bowed out due to commitment on Chuck.
With the sequel for the star-spangled Avenger being entitled "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", we knew we are in for some espionage action with Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes with the film visiting the popular story arc of The Winter Soldier.
As for Guardians of the Galaxy, Feige confirms that the the line-up would consists of Starlord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot and Rocket Raccoon. Still, we opine that this is indeed a most curious choice for a live-action adapation especially when we still have Black Panther and Doctor Strange out there.
Nevertheless, the future of Marvel Cinematic Universe is definitely shining bright.
